Good afternoon everyone,
In the context of this health crisis that constitutes an extraordinary situation, the Harmony Geneva Marathon for Unicef Organising Committee follows the collective procedure of responsibility and solidarity in order to stop the Coronavirus propagation. Today, health for all is our priority!
We have been working hard these last few weeks to consider the best solutions possible for our and your event, and it is with great sadness that we have to announce you that the Harmony Geneve Marathon for Unicef won’t be held on May 9th and 10th.
However, we do not give up and we double our efforts, with the City and Canton of Geneva, the municipalities, the partners, our suppliers and all the other people involved, to see you this year and organize a beautiful celebration with you: for you and all the marathon’s family.
Postponing such an event, that gathers tens of thousands of people for a week-end, involves - as you can imagine - the coordination of numerous actors and depends on hundreds of additional parameters.
The costs incurred by the Organising Committee for the event organisation are very important. Nevertheless, the team - that worked tirelessly for a year with passion and energy - gives it all and spares no effort, including big financial loss, to keep organising a beautiful running celebration this year.
Thus, we work on a postponement to October 3rd & 4th 2020. However - and although it is our favorite solution - we don’t control all the elements, and a cancelation of 2020’s edition is unfortunately a possibility. In this case, and even though the regulation plans that in case of cancellation for “force majeure” , no reimbursement is offered; our Committee will study - after having closed its accounts and exchanged with all its partners and suppliers - the possibility to reimburse a part of the registration fee for those who want it.
You will be informed in May of the definitive decision, or not, that the event will be held in autumn 2020.
We thank you all, as well as all our volunteers, partners, suppliers and all the communities and administrations for their support, their fidelity and their understanding during this troubled period. You are part of the marathon family and we count on you.
All together we will be stronger! But in this period, and in order to stop the spread of the virus, please respect the guidelines provided by the Federal Council and the State Council!
STAY AT HOME!
