At the end of March we informed you about the unfortunate cancellation of the Harmony Geneva Marathon for Unicef on May 9th & 10th.
We also shared that we were working on a possible postponement and rescheduling with the hope to celebrate a beautiful running celebration together in autumn 2020.
We have worked hard these last few weeks to analyse the changing situation; following the different authorities’ announcements, analysing the different options, communicating with all the Harmony Geneva Marathon for Unicef family and reflecting on the possible solutions. We want to thank you for your trust and patience over this time.
However, due to the Federal Council’s new announcements and regulations regarding gatherings, as well as the uncertainties in the coming months, we are sorry to announce that the Harmony Geneva Marathon for Unicef 16th edition won’t be able to take place in 2020. It is our duty to ensure the security and protection of our participants, volunteers, partners, suppliers and spectators, and unfortunately the current health context doesn’t allow it.
You are probably wondering why the event can’t be postponed until autumn, as the situation seems to be improving. Here are the main reasons why:
As you can imagine, this has not been an easy decision to make. After enjoying a great expansion these last years, our event is suddenly stopped in its tracks and this year won’t be able to aid the local community with its numerous economic spinoffs throughout the city and canton of Geneva and the 12 other cities crossed during the event. Our efforts are now turned towards 2021, when we hope to meet you for a new running celebration.
Despite the numerous costs incurred by our committee, we decided to offer several options to the participants: they can transfer their registration to 2021 (without additional costs), get a partial refund, or donate their registration to the organisation.
Again, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our participants, volunteers, partners, suppliers and all the local authorities. Your messages of support are everything to us.
We wish you a nice summer, and we hope to see you motivated and stronger than ever next year, on May 8th & 9th 2021!
